Works Fall True pairs artifacts and documents with essays, interviews, and a curated selection of Ryts Monet’s works, embarking on a Warburgian investigation into the shifts of narrative devices following the downfall and disintegration of the empires and ideologies that shaped them.
Through the lens of media ecology, the book analyzes how the remnants of utopias and ideologies of the 20th century continue to influence and interact with contemporary culture, capitalism, and the environment. It portrays the remnants of bygone empires not merely as historical ruins but as vibrant entities that either harmonize with or disrupt contemporary realities.
The body of work by Ryts Monet guides us in a visual and narrative dialogue with texts and fragments from authors, philosophers, and artists, from Franco Bifo Berardi to Vilém Flusser, from Irmgard Emmelhainz to Ursula K. Le Guin, from Ted Chiang to Devin Fore, inviting us to reflect on how the drifts of symbols and their constant transformations offer new perspectives on the changing of empires and ideologies throughout history.

Ruin or Revolution is the result of a long assemblages process undertaken by Ryts Monet and Andrea Steves during the first year of the COVID-19 pandemic (2020-2021). Using a flatbed scanner, Ryts Monet spontaneously assembled images from books found in various temporary flats where he stayed in isolation in Vienna, Andrea responded with quotations and texts in a long ongoing dialogue at a distance. A selection of the scanner-collages by Ryts and the texts by Andrea were offset-printed on newsprint. The bibliographical references, quotes and the image index are included in the enclosed booklet produced with a Risograph printer.
The pages print on newsprint are unbound. They consist of 4 sheets 56 x 43 cm size printed front and back and can be considered individually as posters.

Archaeology of the Future Ryts Monet
McDonald’s Restaurant best employee of the month pin
2021 ongoing
Since 2021, every year Ryts Monet has realized a
limited edition of 100 pins titled "McDonald’s Restaurant best employee of the month pin." The series is inspired by the pins
that were given to employees at the McDonald's in Piazza Pushkin in
Moscow during the Perestroika, speculative items
related to nations considered "rogue" by the United States
government. In these nations, due to embargoes and geopolitical
tensions, McDonald's cannot open its restaurant chains.
As of the
publication date of this post, three editions have been created:
Pyongyang, North Korea (2021), Havana, Cuba (2022), Tehran, Iran
(2023).
